Mike joined Ludwig and Company in 2012, as the Property Maintenance Manager of Prairie View Apartments, a 334-unit market rate development in Woodstock, Illinois. During his tenure maintenance manager at Prairie View, he oversaw many large scale property improvements including the remodeling the leasing office and community center, and the complete rehabbing of several units at Prairie View. Mike’s vast construction knowledge, coupled with his excellent organization and communication skills, contributed to making him an excellent manager. In 2014, his management duties were expanded to include the maintenance management of a second 235-unit property, in Fox Lake, Illinois. Mike’s maintenance expertise and superior training programs assisted in the efficient operation of the maintenance departments at both properties.
During 2014, in addition to Mike duties at Prairie View and Timber Oaks, he was assigned as a REAC inspection team. Ludwig properties that are preparing for a REAC inspection, send a team of senior maintenance managers to the development to help prepare the property for the inspection. Mike quickly became a very valuable member of this team, very often taking on leadership roles within the group. In 2015, following as Ludwig and Company experienced significant growth, the Executive Directors decided to add a regional position to the Facilities Management Department. At this time, Mike McQuade was promoted to Regional Maintenance Manager.
Mike brings with him the knowledge of both residential and commercial maintenance. Prior to joining Ludwig and Company, he maintained 5 apartment communities that included 700 units. Mike also served as the Project Lead for a complete renovation of a 95 unit building. In addition, Mike supervised the maintenance of 75 commercial buildings throughout Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. Mike holds certifications in HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mold remediation.
Mikes responsibilities include assisting in the oversight of the daily maintenance throughout our portfolio, performing monthly property inspections, and reviewing and monitoring budgeted operational costs and capital expenditures. Mike also assists Tom Wotjas, Director of Facilities Management, with REAC inspection preparation and subsequent reporting. Mike serves as a mentor for newly hired and promoted maintenance managers. He also shares responsibility with Tom for hiring and evaluating the performance of all maintenance staff throughout the portfolio.
