After attending the University of Illinois and De Paul Law School, Alan B. Ludwig started in the hotel business in 1969. Alan and his late father, Arthur – co-founder of Ludwig and Company – acquired the Sheraton Inn in Waukegan, IL. - completely remodeling this facility and completing a 100-room addition. Under Ludwig’s management, The Sheraton Waukegan achieved the highest occupancy in the Sheraton franchise division and Alan was named “Manager of the Year.” The Sheraton Waukegan remains in the Ludwig and Company portfolio to this day.

In the early 1980s Ludwig decided to take his growing company in a different direction, concentrating on the development and management of affordable housing communities.

From that time to the present, Alan Ludwig has managed and/ or developed a portfolio of some of the finest LIHTC and government subsidized properties in Chicagoland including:

• Horizon Village (Zion, IL) offers 275 units tucked in 30 acres of rolling hills – wonderful amenities and recreational facilities for families and seniors.
• Hickory Manor (Waukegan, IL), 120-unit Ludwig development of affordable living at its best.  Spacious apartments, thoughtful amenities and programs especially designed for active senior lifestyles.
• Cinnamon Lake Towers (Waukegan, IL), performed a 2.5 million dollar renovation and converted 274 units to low income housing tax credit units.
• Olympic Village (Chicago Heights, IL) served as liaison of over 6 million dollars in renovation, and converted 320 units to low income housing tax credit units.
• Residences at Carriage Creek (Richton Park, IL) supplied pre-opening services and performed initial certification of 50 senior citizen units.
